We Have To Be Different in 2021

What must ministry be like in 2021? Have we learned anything from 2020? For me it has meant asking the question, “Have we (I) done it wrong” Honestly, self-reflection in the mirror is never as powerful as catching a glimpse of yourself in the eyes of a loving savior. Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. ” (Matthew 11:28) He never said, “Come to me all whom have got it all together and a big ministry platform, and I will give you more approval.”

You see, I must first ask forgiveness. Over the last few months, I have realized that I have needed to change. I needed a reset. I have found that the removal of the platform and ministry nonstop calendar dates has caused me to awaken to the fact that I had some bad concepts and dangerous misconceptions. I now realize God can do ministry with or without each of us, but He sure loves having partners in the harvest.

The world isn’t getting better, and in many locations the church is getting smaller. We must change our approach. Could it be that the demise of morality in our nation is not just a cultural issue, but also a problem that lies at the doorstep of the church that Jesus loves so much that He died for it (Eph. 5:25). The greatest hindrance to the gospel and the call to minister is the ego of man. I once heard it said that EGO stands for “Edging God Out.” Could it be that we are no greater than our last God encounter? Ministry starts at the cross and ends at the grave of resurrection. For far too long, we have made ministry a platform instead of a mandate. If we are indeed Christ’s Ambassadors (2 Cor. 5:20), that means we have died to praise and are pure enough to handle His glory. We must not preach holiness and purity without also exemplifying purity, brokenness, and compassion. Yet, if our identity is found in our meager accomplishments and accolades of ministry, have we not decided that the prostitution of our calling to be more ingratiating than the simple words, “Well done thou good and faithful servant” (Matt. 25:23)? Humanity is crying out for leaders that know the voice of God and not just the echoes of ministry textbooks taught by many who have never once scraped their knees on the floor of brokenness. As vessels that house God’s Spirit (2 Cor. 4:7), we must be last in the line of recognition and we must be first in line for fresh revelation. We must be kind in the face of adversity and run far from self-promotion. Ministry is hard and often it means getting hurt. It costs, but it should never rob of us our new creation identity. Hurting people hurt people. It is true we are never as bad as our worst critic and never as great as our biggest admirer believes. How often have we allowed our scars to be an excuse to release harshness in the name of spiritual authority? We are called to be “prisoners of the gospel.” (Eph. 4:1) Nevertheless, the prison of ministry can seduce even the most faithful. I, for one, have been the worst convict in the prison of self-exaltation. To possess true humility and love for the hurting requires that we step back from the platform and plaudits of man. It means loving the unlovable and forgiving the unforgivable. We must listen to the beating hearts of the broken and the exhausted spirits of what the world considers irrelevant. Dare we arrive in heaven and realize that our desire to arrive in the eyes of man on earth resulted in the loss of our heavenly reward. Maybe somewhere along the way, we decided it was better to drink the oil instead of anointing our weary brow. Rather than dressing for relevance, we instead must put on a servant's robe and grab a towel. Washing feet is a much better approach than the mashing of toes by the latest and most excellent sermon. Sermons matter, but only if they are birthed with tears of compassion.

The next great move of God will most likely not happen in a beautiful cathedral or a stadium that houses our sports teams, but rather in the alley of lost hope at the corner of “Broad and Narrow.” You will find this corner in the part of town less traveled. It will be the awakening of the wounded and the transformation of the rebellious. Maybe, just maybe, it will not be about titles bestowed by man. The greatest testimonies of restoration are found at a filthy altar where the righteous and unrighteous, the reverent and irreverent, and the clean and unclean decide to seek the face of a wounded Savior whom died for us all.

I pray that Jesus will forgive us for forgetting what it means to be renewed daily.

I pray that he will forgive us for believing our own press.

I pray that he will use us to pull one more person out of despair.

I pray that he will use us as his hands to be repairers of a breach called, “trust.”

Let’s get Salty and Lit for Jesus!

Should We Be Panicked?

Should we Be Panicked?
Confronting the fear and anxiety caused by the voices of the coming calamity:

Many people, myself included, have found themselves asking one or all of these questions, “Should I be panicked?  Is calamity and destruction at the door?  What should I do?”  Can I remind you today that we serve a God who is still God and is a “very present help in time of trouble”. The Word says “No calamity or plague shall reach your house”. (Psalms 91:10) It is time we remind ourselves of the promises in His Word and who God is!  We can stop the calamity! We serve a God of the turnaround! It is time we run back to the tower! (Psalms 46)

Yesterday (July 8th, 2020), the Lord spoke to me to prepare to release a video confronting some issues that have arose concerning videos declaring doom and gloom. The videos released had even caused fear in me. Due to this and compounded by recent family circumstances (death of my mom just last month and heart attack of my brother) I was feeling overwhelmed, troubled and wondering all sorts of “what if’s”. I needed to be reminded that God was still in control and I have no reason to fear or fret. What many do not understand is that prophecy is not fixed it is formed. We see in part (“For we know in part and we prophesy in part.” 1 Cor 13:9). We have the power to arise and speak to the storm that is coming. The church needs to do its part!

So, I recorded and released an encouraging video addressing what the Lord had shared with me and a prayerful response to the videos and prophesies that have been released during this recent time. Here is that video: https://youtu.be/RNxroixL9kM

 Here are the facts:

1. We (the bride) must awaken! (2 Chron 7:14). We serve a God of the turnaround!  He can withhold calamity (Nineveh) and turn His favor upon us. I believe that the dreams and prophecy of destruction is causing the church to run away, plan for devastation and hide in the shadows. This is not the way! This should be the churches finest hour, it is time to rise up, declare hope and remember that the Gospel means “Good news”!

2. We must find His whisper! Quit listening to the Wind (all the media is telling you and news of doom and gloom), earthquake and fire! (1 Kings 19:11-12) We must NOT rely on voices of fear right now, but rather stand firm with righteousness. We must find His whisper again! God is speaking, are you close enough to hear His whisper?

3. We must Run to God! We know that the righteous run to God and are saved (Proverbs 18:10). We do not serve a God that abandons his bride, but one that meets his bride on the door of the threshold and says allow me to come in and be with you. (Isaiah 41:10) We must not run to the hills, but turn to the hills from which comes our help! (Psalm 121:1-2).

We can turn the tide! We can see America saved! There is much more to say, but I believe that is a time to call for national repentance and prayer. We must adhere to this promise: Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.” We must not shrink back! Fear is NEVER an impetus for solid decision making! Our footsteps are ordered of the Lord! It is time to do our part! Should we be panicked? No!

Will He Be Invited In This Time?

.... “May the church never have a tombstone, but rather always burn a neon sign that lights up the caverns of darkness, the foggy streets of eternity, the forests of fear, and the oceans of obscurity. Its light should shine brightly, declaring, “Jesus Christ is Lord...

On Sunday morning, May 24th, I awoke with a deep stirring. I heard the Lord speak to my heart, “Will they allow me in this time?” As I prayed it became even more clear that we are at a crossroads as a bride and church.  Will we return back to what had been and how we did church before or have we allowed this season to reset and change us? I feel so deeply in my spirit that there is so much more He is calling us to!

During this unprecedented season the church has had to shutter its buildings to protect from a virus, but our light burns even brighter. A decree by a government or public official has never been able to stop the Gospel. Now, as so many churches prepare to re-open, could it be we now know how Jesus felt in Revelation 3:20, “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”  He too was locked out of His church. He knows what it means to be on the threshold waiting for the doorman. He has always simply desired to encounter His bride. Perhaps we have been given a gift to actually fellowship in the sufferings of Christ (Phil. 3:10). Maybe our posture changes when we return. No longer can it be just about the production of the services, the comfort of the saints, and the development of great systems. It must be about encountering “The One.” The James 4:8 “draw near to God and he will draw near to you” promise.

Maybe, as we enter back in, we will invite Him to lead us into the buildings and church He establishes. We must then get out of the way and watch Him restore hearts, minds and bodies. His mandate has not changed, “Come to me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matt. 11:28) Could it be that we have learned that the church isn’t a building, but it’s hearts and minds wholly committed to the King of Kings.

We must evaluate! Have we personally changed? Will we go back to our microwave services where there is little time for people to meet with the one who died for them? Or will we sit, wait and tarry like the Upper Room?

Will we allow for Holy Spirit to awaken lives or ask him to only visit twice a year on an encounter weekend or preplanned special meetings?

Will we cry out for more of Him or once again simply enjoy our prepackaged worship sets, tightly planned chorus bridges and just the right song to move our weary souls?

What if we asked Jesus what He desires? Maybe, we have it wrong. Our motives are right, but what if we said, “Oh God, we move out of the way for you to have your way.” Maybe it isn’t about just having amazing serve teams in place to meet the masses, but it’s about individuals being transformed by a deep encounter with a living God.

The cry from our savior is still the same, “The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let the one who hears say, “Come!” Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life.” (Rev. 22:17).

Surely, this quiet season we now find ourselves exiting has caused us all to focus once again on the cross of sacrifice and not the mirror of self. Joel 2:13-14 (msg bible) says it best, “Change your life, not just your clothes. Come back to God, your God. And here’s why: God is kind and merciful. He takes a deep breath, puts up with a lot, This most patient God, extravagant in love, always ready to cancel catastrophe. Who knows? Maybe he’ll do it now, maybe he’ll turn around and show pity. Maybe, when all’s said and done, there’ll be blessings full and robust for your God!”

In closing, I was reminded of an excerpt that we wrote in our book, Rebuilding the Altar, over two years ago. “May the church never have a tombstone, but rather always burn a neon sign that lights up the caverns of darkness, the foggy streets of eternity, the forests of fear, and the oceans of obscurity. Its light should shine brightly, declaring, “Jesus Christ is Lord, and He came to seek and to save that which was lost.” This is the hour in which men must once again crawl to the altar of repentance and burn with a fire that cannot be extinguished. May eternity say of us, “These were the ones who grabbed ahold of the altar and held on to that which released them from the weight of their sin and pain! These were the ones who with unabated breath labored in the fields that were white unto harvest.”[1]

The verdict is still out. Let’s let Him in! It might just change the next season of the church and world.

A Letter - To the People of Christ,

To the People of Christ,

We cannot do life as usual. This is much more than an  illness, but rather an all-out attack against the gospel. I truly believe that this thing (virus) must be brought down from the air to the dirt by praying and warring against it. Now is the time to battle from our knees.

Covid-19 is an airborne virus- Airborne diseases are illnesses spread by tiny pathogens in the air. These can be bacteria, fungi, or viruses, but they are all transmitted through airborne contact. Guess what? We have been given authority over the things of the air according to Ephesians 6:12-13. “Your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings, but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms. For they are a powerful class of demon-gods and evil spirits that hold this dark world in bondage. 13 Because of this, you must wear all the armor that God provides so you’re protected as you confront the slanderer, for you are destined for all things and will rise victorious.” (The Passion Translation)

This is the most unprecedented time in history. I personally believe this is Satan’s way of removing the authority of the USA in the eyes of the world and bringing about more chaos in the nations. While we are not a perfect nation; we are still the protectors against tyranny and the guardians of democracy. We are also the missions sending arm of heaven.  We must pray against the Jezebel spirit (Revelation 2:20) which is at work in destroying the lives of the Believers, Priests and Kings.

I do believe that this has caused us all to realize that we must be SALT and LIGHT (Matt. 5:13-16). Our lifestyles have and must change. This has forced us all to realize that we must be frugal and more conscious of how we do life. What used to matter has taken a backseat to survival and purpose. We will come through this! 2 Cor. 4:17 promises, “For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” Together we shall overcome and walk in an authority from heaven like never before.

I had this in my spirit when I awoke this morning: Isaiah 54:11-17 (MSG Bible),  “Afflicted city, storm-battered, unpitied: I’m about to rebuild you with stones of turquoise, Lay your foundations with sapphires, construct your towers with rubies, Your gates with jewels, and all your walls with precious stones. All your children will have God for their teacher— what a mentor for your children! You’ll be built solid, grounded in righteousness, far from any trouble—nothing to fear! far from terror—it won’t even come close! If anyone attacks you, don’t for a moment suppose that I sent them, And if any should attack, nothing will come of it. I create the blacksmith who fires up his forge and makes a weapon designed to kill. I also create the destroyer—but no weapon that can hurt you has ever been forged. Any accuser who takes you to court will be dismissed as a liar. This is what God’s servants can expect. I’ll see to it that everything works out for the best.” God’s Decree.”

On the other side of this great catastrophe let us be able to say that we had a personal awakening to the fact that with God all things are possible.

RESET

Today, as we prayed and talked, this is what God is speaking to mine and Karen’s heart … “RESET!

It is time to reset everything.

We have been given a reprieve from the treadmill of life. Now we must decide to lean into the voice of God and develop a new normal! Now we must rethink everything.

“And then, after your brief suffering, the God of all loving grace, who has called you to share in his eternal glory in Christ, will personally and powerfully restore you and make you stronger than ever. Yes, he will set you firmly in place and build you up.” 1 Peter 5:10 (TPT)

RESET- what you considered....

🔥Prayer Time - Get to know God in a deeper and more profound way! Go deep! Let this be your Psalm 42:6-7, “Deep crieth unto Deep” season. Pray the Lord’s Prayer! Commune with God and he will show up! James 4:6, “Draw near to God and he will draw near to you!” Praise him for already providing the antidote.

🔥Family Time - Use this time to get to know each other again!  Listen more than you talk. Laugh more than you cry. Play together again. Most importantly, PRAY together again! Psalm 127:1, “Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.”

🔥The Valuable - Possessions and things of this world cannot compare to what God has in store for you. Store up treasure in heaven (Matthew 6:19-20). Sow into your church! Stay faithful!

🔥Your Purpose - It isn’t about the stage or the crowd it is about being His hands and feet! Rethink how you have done life. Remember, if the stage can seduce you; then it can also reduce you. Be confident in the fact you are Christ’s Ambassador! (2 Cor. 5:20). Remember, Saul who became Paul disappeared for three years and came out as a new man ready to change the world. Isolation redefined purpose.

🔥Your Success - Your value comes from your Heavenly Father and not people, options or the plaudits of man. Maybe this is the season to rewrite your resume! Could this be the nudge from heaven that causes you to shift your job and profession? Maybe, it is time to realize that it is God that gives you the ability to create wealth. (Deut. 8:18). He takes joy in your prosperity. (Ps. 35:27)

🔥Your Wealth - He has got you. There is no bankruptcy sign in heaven. He is the great employer. He still knows the recipe to Manna!

🔥Our Fellowship - We have one heart and one body in Christ! (Romans 12:5). Let’s come together! Forget politics! Forget things that do not matter. Let’s spur each other on!
(Hebrews 10:24) in good works.

🔥Our Vision - Now is the time look through the eyes of God and not our own. Pick up the spiritual telescope and see that God can has a plan for revival to hit the land! Habakkuk 2:2 your life. Write down your vision!

🔥Your inheritance matters to God!

Let this be our promise: “[ God’s Faithfulness ] Yahweh says: “When the time of showing you favor has come, I will answer your heart’s cry. I will help you in the day of salvation, for I have fixed my eyes on you. I have made you a covenant people to restore the land and to resettle families on forgotten inheritances.” Isaiah 49:8, TPT

Let’s RESET! Maybe after we reset we will see the breakthrough!

The Believer's Guide to Surviving Covid-19

This morning when I awoke I heard the Lord speak to my heart, “Are you through with being intimidated by the Coronavirus? Are you ready for peace to be back in your home?" I said, " Lord, I do believe I have allowed this to consume us. Our home is not walking by faith. How do I fix this?” Here is what He told me:

🗝1. Turn off TV! The 24 hour news cycle that reminds us every day the world is doomed. We must quit paying them to defeat our faith. The airwaves in your home will disrupt your spiritual AIR-WAY! Job 33:4, “The Spirit of God has made me; the breath of the almighty gives me life!” It is time to breathe again! God has got this! It’s time to wait on the goodness of the Lord! “Fear corrodes our confidence in God’s goodness.” Psalms 23:6 (TPT), “ So why would I fear the future? For your goodness and love pursue me all the days of my life. Then afterward, when my life is through, I’ll return to your glorious presence to be forever with you!”

🗝2. Turn worship music on in your home and speak PEACE and SAFETY over your home. Isaiah 26:3, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.“ Worship restores God’s heart to your dwelling. Psalms 31:19 (TPT), “Lord, how wonderful you are! You have stored up so many good things for us, like a treasure chest heaped up and spilling over with blessings— all for those who honor and worship you! Everybody knows what you can do for those who turn and hide themselves in you.”

🗝3. Declare & speak Psalm 91 over your family, friends, church, city and finances. Especially declare, Psalms 91:3-4, “He will rescue you from every hidden trap of the enemy, and he will protect you from false accusations and any deadly curse.  His massive arms are wrapped around you, protecting you. You can run under his covering of majesty and hide. His arms of faithfulness are a shield keeping you from harm.” (TPT)

🗝4. Take back your God given authority! Pray the prayer Authority that Apostle Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:18-23, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come. And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.“ (NIV)

🗝5. Go outside! Have fun as a family! Use this as a time of peace and solitude. Walk, run, dance, play and dream! Proverbs 17:22, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” (NIV) Your family is watching you! Be the spiritual thermostat. Psalms 16:11, "You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

Soon this will pass. You, with a smile on your face, will be able to say, “I knew that God could handle this! He is faithful!”

God bless!

P.S.  Please spread this article (re-share) - let's make this viral instead of the fear of a virus!

The Roar In The Wilderness

It is time to declare identity, His identity, over you and your family.  After the season of silence comes the roar! Families have lost their roar!  If you have been in a battle for your marriage or family it might be because there is an all-out war sent from the enemy to not only stop your voice, but to quiet your roar! In fact, there is a sound rising up – a sound that is about to break the silence.  It is the sound of families rising up, marriages coming together, generations worshiping and declaring freedom! We hear the sound of a roar!

We want to share with you the day the silence was broken, and a voice awakened! The day a father’s silence ended, and prophesy was fulfilled. The prophecy of John the Baptist was that He would prepare the way for Jesus. In Isaiah 40:3 it says about John, “A voice of one calling: “In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.”  Before Jesus can arrive on the scene the ROAR has to happen.

Before the fulfillment of prophesy, (John 1:23, So, John answered them, “I am fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy: ‘I am an urgent, thundering voice shouting in the desert—clear the way and prepare your hearts for the coming of the Lord Yahweh!” (TPT)), there had to be identity declared. John would become the ROAR! He was the one who prepared the way! But there is a part of the story that gets lost.  A part that is the key to how John the Baptist came into the world. You see, it didn’t start with a roar! It started with a silence, a mute! How many of you know that before your greatest miracle is usually your greatest test?

You need to be reminded today of the missing part of the story, the story of Zechariah & Elizabeth, the parents of John the Baptist.  Zachariah was a priest. He was married to a woman of God named Elizabeth. Their home was missing the sound of joy. They had not been able to have children. Now they were old. They had experienced years of heart ache! Waiting on a miracle!  One day Zachariah was at the temple standing next to the altar the angel Gabriel appeared to him. He freaked out!  Luke 1:11-13 says, “When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. But the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John.” The angel tells him that his son will be full of the Holy Spirit. Guard him. Keep him clean. Then the angel in Luke 1:16-17 quotes the Prophet Malachi.  Malachi 4:5-6, “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the Lord comes. He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”

Sometimes it is hard to keep believing for the promise. Can we tell you today, keep believing!  His promises are true, and the silence is about to be broken! Zachariah responds to the angel, Luke 1:18-20, Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.” Then the angel said, “I am Gabriel! I stand in the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news! But now, since you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.”

Now Dad went silent! Fear and lack of faith had caused him to go silent! There is a battle for the voice of dads and moms in this nation! If we fail to speak identity it will be spoken by another voice. The only difference between the believer’s voice of today and the voices of perversion, with a radical agenda, is that we went mute when they went louder. From sitcoms to songs, culture is declaring that parents are irrelevant. It is time to roar over your family once again and speak His identity over your family so that the generations will declare.

Zachariah has gone silent. Can you imagine this home?  Elizabeth is pregnant, but they can’t talk about it!  They can’t dream together. Fear accepted will steal your roar!  Elizabeth is pregnant. The house is quiet. At the same time Mary (her cousin) is also pregnant with Jesus. Mary decides to go visit her cousin Elizabeth who is pregnant with John. Luke 1:41, shares the moment when promise meets prophesy fulfilled, “At the moment she heard Mary’s voice, the babywithin Elizabeth’s womb jumped and kicked. And suddenly, Elizabeth was filled to overflowing with the Holy Spirit!” (TPT)  When Jesus comes in the house your kids will get fired up! Dad was still quiet! Then finally, the child is born. On the 8th day they take to be circumcised. This is when the child is given a name, watch what happens.

Look at Luke 1:59-61, When the baby was eight days old, according to their custom, all the family and friends came together for the circumcision ceremony. Everyone was convinced that the parents would name the baby Zechariah, after his father.  But Elizabeth spoke up and said, “No, he has to be named John!  “What?” they exclaimed. “No one in your family line has that name!” (TPT) Be careful, just before the roar will come the negative voices. The doubters! How could he not be named after his dad? Would he not carry on the name? No, he would be called to proclaim the name of Jesus!

Mom and Dad, you have to fight for your children’s identity!  It was time for the silence to be broken, identity declared, and the roar released.  Luke 1:62-63 says, “So they gestured to the baby’s father to ask what to name the child.  After motioning for a writing tablet, in amazement of all, he wrote, “His name is John.  Dad and Mom step up! Join forces against the voices! Luke 1:64, Instantly Zechariah could speak again. And his first words were praises to the Lord.” You see, how you handle your greatest fear today will often determine how others experience God tomorrow!

Fast forward … 30 years later… The voice of one crying in the wilderness. The Roar comes when identity is revealed! When Zachariah declared his name to be “John” and identity was given, it would eventually allow John to fulfill prophesy, “John 1:29-30, “The very next day John saw Jesus coming to him to be baptized, and John cried out, “Look! There he is—God’s Lamb! He will take away the sins of the world! I told you that a Mighty One would come who is far greater than I am, because he existed long before I was born!”

If you will roar, then so will your children! If we will declare identity over our kids, they will recognize the son of God when He walks up!  There is a roar in the wilderness season and God is breaking the silence – it is time to roar once again over your family!
